In late summer of 2011, CWDF was founded to help launch Cohasset’s new Police K-9 program. Today, officer Pat Reardon and his second K-9, “Einstein” are a familiar sight around town, serving Cohasset and surrounding communities. CWDF fully funds Cohasset’s police K-9 program, providing patrol equipment, outfitting of the K-9 cruiser, specialty electronics, veterinary care and more.

The CWDF also supports K-9 “Erik” in his retirement and will support K-9 Einstein throughout his working life,  ensuring that they have proper veterinary care.

In the summer of 2014, with the support of Cohasset residents, we delivered a highly trained mobility service dog, “Parker”, to a young Cohasset child.  Parker served his partner for more than 8 years before semi retiring as a service dog, and transitioning to a highly-regarded therapy dog.   The service dog program has a grant available to  help purchase or train a service dog for a disabled Cohasset resident and are awaiting a qualified applicant.

The volunteer-led foundation also supports a rapidly growing therapy dog program, called “Canine Ambassadors”.  With more than 3 dozen trained and certified dogs and their handlers regularly visit nursing homes, hospitals, schools and libraries, Canine Ambassadors are busy visiting locations all over the south shore every week.

With your donation we can continue to fund these valuable programs which benefit every Cohasset resident.
